Summer… Almost Over?!
Where in the world has the time gone? I knew that Chad and I had been busy this summer but I didn’t realize it was flying by so quickly! Since our last post I had a birthday, we have made 4 trips to Memphis, I have worked two eight night stretches at work, Chad has finished two more classes at school, my phone was stolen at work, we celebrated our two year wedding anniversary, Chad’s parents came in town and my mom has come in town. It has been crazy and great.
Chad posted a sweet message on my birthday but I never had the opportunity to write about it. My parents came up to visit for the first time and we had a ball! We were able to show them all of what we love about Louisville and eat at some pretty great places! I’m always so grateful for any time I get to spend with my parents. I don’t know what I’d do without them in my life. They are my best friends. I’m so grateful I have such a great relationship with both of them.
We have been so thankful for the opportunity to be in Memphis so much this summer. Chad was asked to lead worship at Collierville Bible Church several Sunday’s this summer and what a blessing it has been. Chad and I were truly grateful for the opportunity to fellowship with this body of believers and get to know the pastor and his wife. We consider it a lifetime friendship.
I was absolutely out of my mind working two eight night stretches at work. The overtime pay wasn’t too shabby but I have realized I am burning the candle at both ends quicker than I thought. My body is finally screaming for me to stop. I am not giving myself enough time to rest and repair. I am praying diligently for a full-time day shift position to come open soon!!!! I miss my husband more than I can describe in words. I miss having a normal life. When I do have a night off, I waste the day away sleeping to recuperate from the night before and then I’m awake when Chad is ready to go to bed. It’s extremely weird to feel as if I function when the rest of the world is sleeping. I have faith something will become available soon so I’m just trying to be patient.
Chad has completed two more classes throughout the summer at the Seminary. He’s now working on completing two papers he has due this week but after that he is off for the rest of the summer. Lucky!!! I’m so glad he has tackled getting two more classes out of the way! Now only about 2 1/2 or 3 more years until he’s completely finished!! I’m so proud of him.
Ah yes, about my phone being stolen. I was in a room during one of my patients deliveries and realized my phone had been taken from my scrub jacket which I had hung on a chair at one of our nursing stations. I ended up calling my own phone just wondering if someone would answer and sure enough they did. The said they would bring my phone back and of course I never saw it again. I have never had my phone stolen in the 7 years that I have owned a cell phone. I was hurt and felt extremely violated seeing as how this stranger now had access to all of my hundreds of friends phone numbers and pictures that I had taken with my phone. Chad quickly suspended my number and a friend from work was so kind as to lend me one of her old phones to reactivate. I now have a phone and my old number back. So I now lock my phone in my locker and don’t keep any valuables in my scrub jacket. The things we learn throughout life. But Chad and I are very excited because we are purchasing iPhone’s this week! We are switching to AT&T and I couldn’t be more excited! We’ll have to let you know how much we like the new 3G!!!
I cannot believe Chad and I have been married two years! We celebrated our two year wedding anniversary on July 8th at a restaurant called Proof on Main here in Louisville and had a great time. It was nice to have a night off and be able to spend it with Chad out at a fancy dinner. We enjoyed great food and quality time together. The past two years have been amazing with Chad. I am constantly in awe at what an amazing husband he is to me. People at work are always asking me, “He’s pretty perfect, isn’t he?”. I must admit, he completely is. He is such a servant to me. I thank God for allowing me to be with someone that loves me like Chad does. I am absolutely spoiled rotten by Chad. I couldn’t have asked for a better man to spend my days with.
My in-laws, Tom and Marilyn, came for a visit this past Thursday night. I had to work Thursday night so I saw them for all of 10 minutes and had to head to the hospital. Chad took them to one of our downtown eateries for dinner and had a nice time. They, unfortunately, had to leave in the middle of the night to tend to some emergency business at home. So I was planning on seeing them a lot more throughout the weekend but 10 minutes will hold me until the come visit again! We’re grateful they got a glimpse of the city we have fallen in love with. And I know they enjoyed finally being able to see where we live and to squeeze on their grand-kitties necks.
After we realized my in-laws had driven back to Chattanooga we got another surprise! Chad had called my mom that day to talk and my mom made a spur of the moment decision to come visit us. My dad was going to be working this past weekend anyway so it made for a great opportunity for my mom to have a little road trip. She arrived Friday evening and stayed until Sunday! We had a fabulous time. Chad cooked for us on Friday and we played around town on Saturday and tried a new restaurant Saturday night and she left Sunday after church. It was hard to see her leave but knowing that we’ll see her again on Thursday makes things a little easier.
Chad and I are headed to Memphis once again later this week because I’m a bridesmaid in one of my best friend’s weddings this weekend! I am so excited for Heather and Ryan to be getting married! It is going to be such a fun weekend with all of the wedding activities going on! I’ll have to post pictures of the beautiful bride once we get back. Chad was also asked to lead for Collierville Bible Church again! It worked out perfectly since we were already going to be in town for the wedding. So if your in Memphis, give Chad and I a ring so we can see you!!!
So, as you can see, it’s been a crazy summer already for us and honestly, it’s not about to slow down! We have a lot more exciting adventures coming up so we’ll keep you posted. We pray everyone is doing well and enjoying the hot weather! We love you!

Lauren, I am sad to hear that we missed you guys at CBC. Gabe and I were members there until we moved to Mississippi and have just rejoined the church body. What an amazing group of people. Jim and Rochelle have been such models of what a Godly spouse/parent looks like.. and I look forward to each Sunday, knowing that God will speak a mighty word through Jim. I am sorry to hear of the ups and downs of the summer… I hope you enjoyed your time in Memphis for your friend’s wedding and that things have slowed down a little bit for you and Chad. Any news on the job situation? Take care of yourself, sweetie. You are in my prayers.
