Oh my goodness. I cannot express how much I love this city! Everyday I thank the Lord that He called Chad and I here. I sometimes doubted that I would ever find a city that I could picture myself living in for the rest of my life but I can truly picture Chad and I living here and raising a family here. Now, I’m definitely not naive because the way our life has gone for the past couple of years, I know that we can very well be called to another city to serve but I am surely going to make the most of my time here in Louisville.
So I figured since it’s a Saturday and we’ve lived here for almost two weeks and are settled in now that I’ll fill you in on everything that’s been happening. Our first week here we got all the logistics in order. We found a new home bank, scoped out the interstates and one-way roads, I had my job interview, we decorated and got organized, etc. This past week we have just soaked in the beauty of the city. Almost everyday we have gone exploring to discover new areas and places to go. We discovered that we can walk to Churchill Downs where they hold the Kentucky Derby. Churchill Downs is so grand! I can’t believe that in May we’ll be in the midst of all the excitement!! I’m amazed at the area we live in. It’s so convenient to everything we need. Chad and I have started a running routine. I, personally, am running in a half-marathon at the end of April with my best friend Catherine. Chad agreed to help me train, but I don’t think that he’s going to run in the half-marathon. And Chad didn’t necessarily want me running in a strange area by myself so he runs to protect me.
I’m so proud of him. He hates running. So it’s nice to have company running alongside me. We’ve also made it a goal to walk four flights of stairs to get to our unit instead of riding the elevator. So far we’ve been diligent in doing that every time except for when we have groceries or big things to carry.
Everything is put away in it’s place and our loft looks like it’s been lived in for more than two weeks. I always hate seeing boxes and clutter when we move so I get it all organized immediately. It’s been a nice little respite for Chad and I with him not in school and me not starting work until January 21st. We’ve really enjoyed the close time together. I feel like we’re acting like newlyweds again. Which I guess, technically, we still are since we haven’t been married for over 2 years yet. But we’re loving just being with each other and discovering a new city. We’ve noticed that we tell each other every day how happy we are in Louisville. I love that I feel that way about a city!
We did visit a church last Sunday. It’s called the Sojourn Church. It was great. I really enjoyed the service. The church will be studying the book of Romans for the whole entire year of 2008. That’s exciting. I love Romans and am always willing to dig deeper in and learn more about it. The teaching pastor stood up there and quoted Romans chapters 1-3 from memory. I thought that showed some serious dedication. But we’ll be visiting other churches to really find which one the Lord is leading us to get plugged in to. It definitely is strange to not have Chad as my worship minister. I’m so used to seeing my husband up there leading the congregation of the church we’re in. It’s different having him stand next to me. I love seeing Chad lead in worship. He has a heart for Christ and His church. Chad never wants the attention on himself. He always prays often during His worship sets and really strives to have people worship Christ and not the music. It’s not about the music in the first place or the hip, popular songs. The Sojourn Church did a great job of leading with biblically deep and sound worship songs. I thoroughly enjoyed it. So we’ll see where the Lord leads us permanently.
The only thing hanging in the balance is our house. It still has not sold. I haven’t lost faith. It’s a great house and I know the perfect people will come along soon and snatch it up. But if you think about it, please pray that our house will sell soon!!!!
We have truly appreciated the support and love people have shown us. We will never be able to express how much everyone has meant to us. Thank you to all the people who have called or written to let us know they are praying for us and love us. We love you all!
